The South Tyrolean Wine Village of Kaltern is located in the oldest wine-growing region in the German speaking area and is also one of the smallest wine growing regions in all of Italy. Here, where as early as 1220 there is evidence of a "vinum de caldario", striving for sensuality and pleasure has become a philosophy of life: when tasting the local top quality wines, when wandering about the idyllic surroundings or when sunbathing at Lake Kalterersee.
Lake Kalterersee is the true centrepiece of the area. The warmest bathing lake of the Alps is a popular destination from April to October. The biotopes at the southern slopes of the lake are home to rare types of birds. The ruins of Castle Leuchtenburg are situated high above the lake.
Over the past few years, the village, together with the wine producers, have decided to ensure new wine quality with the aid of "wein.kaltern". This is a strategy of strict guidelines, which brings quality to the forefront. From a reduced wine cultivation to professional storage, it all ensures top quality for each bottle and barrel.
